Trash/Recycling

Collection Day & Service Guidelines

Missed trash / recycling and bulk item collection should be reported to CWD. The 24-hour hotline number for automated information only is 214.391.9300 To speak to a customer service representative, call 972.392.9300 ext. 2.

Trash Pickup is every Monday. Polycarts and yard waste (contained in approved, biodegradable paper bags) must be set up by 7 am on Monday. All trash must fit inside the poly cart with the lid completely closed. Trash must be bagged before it is placed in the poly cart to prevent loose items from spilling out when the cart is dumped by the automated side-loading (ASL) trash truck.

Recycling is picked up every 2nd and 4th Monday. Recyclables can all be comingled in your blue poly cart. No need for sorting! All items to be recycled can be placed in the recycle bin. These items include plastics #1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 (no Styrofoam and no plastic bags of any kind); aluminum drink cans (no foil, pie plates or cookware), steel food and drink cans, aerosol cans, and all colors of unbroken glass bottles and jars. Dry, un-yellowed newspapers, phone books, catalogs, junk mail, paper bags, corrigated cardboard boxes and chipboard will also be accepted.

Bulk Trash Pickup is the first Monday of each month. Depending on the amount of bulk items to be picked up that week, actual collection could be any day between Monday and Friday. Bulk items are large appliances, furniture and other items that cannot fit into the trash poly cart for collection. Remodeling materials and excess household trash in bags are not considered bulk items. A maximum of 5 bulk items will be collected.
